Beyond Tomorrow’s Sun by Ronald McGuire is an exciting sci-fi novel that brings us from a tormented Earth to different corners of the solar system. We follow Charlie as he does his best to survive, first in an abusive household and then as a soldier in the Space Force. A bright young man, he finds himself advancing faster than he ever would have expected and dealing with things he never thought he would. Much like Charlie, we are thrown into McGuire’s well-created and written science fiction piece filled with excellent world-building and exciting characters.

The pacing of Beyond Tomorrow’s Sun is an exciting mixture of build-up of everyday day-to-day life before being thrown into the chaos of a wartime world. Characters stand out as individuals, and their interactions seem real with their personalities, loves, hates, and annoyances. Though the main character has a few moments where I wondered, ‘How can he do everything?’ for the most part, this was a minor complaint.

Beyond TOmorrow’s Sun by Ronald McGuire is a much-read for any sci-fi fan.
